Letters and Goody Bags to Members of the United States Armed Forces
In cooperation with the Major Stuart Adam Wolfer Institute*, students at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County collected over 1,000 personal care items to send in “Goody Bags” to members of the armed forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The 5th graders led the campaign and packed close to 200 bags. Each bag contained a personal letter, written by a Schechter student. Major Stuart Wolfer z”l was a graduate of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County, and died in service to our country in 2008. His family founded the institute in his memory. Members of the Wolfer family visited our school on Veterans Day. Enjoy reading the students’ letters to our soldiers and seamen:
